Pancreatic diseases
What is Acute Pancreatitis ?
Acute pancreatitis is a sudden inflammation of the pancreas. It can be caused by gallstones, heavy alcohol consumption, or other factors. Symptoms include severe upper abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever.

What is Chronic Pancreatitis ?
Chronic pancreatitis is a long-term inflammatory condition of the pancreas that can damage the organ and impair its function. It often occurs due to repeated episodes of acute pancreatitis, heavy alcohol use, or other causes. Symptoms can include upper abdominal pain, weight loss, and malnutrition.

What is Recurrent Pancreatitis ?
Recurrent pancreatitis refers to having multiple episodes of acute pancreatitis, often with symptom-free periods in between.

What is Pseudocyst of pancreas ?
A pancreatic pseudocyst is a collection of fluid and debris that forms in the pancreas or nearby tissues after an injury or inflammation. Most pseudocysts are benign (noncancerous).

What is Pancreatic Necrosis ?
A pancreatic pseudocyst is a collection of fluid and debris that forms in the pancreas or nearby tissues after an injury or inflammation. Most pseudocysts are benign (noncancerous).

What is Pancreatic stones ?
Pancreatic stones are solid formations within the pancreatic ducts that can obstruct flow and contribute to pancreatitis. They are less common than gallstones.

What is Pancreatic insufficiency (Atrophy) ?
Pancreatic insufficiency, also called atrophy, occurs when the pancreas doesn’t produce enough digestive enzymes. This can lead to difficulty digesting food, malnutrition, and weight loss.

What is Pancreatic tumors (Neuroendocrine tumors, Insulinoma, Glucagonoma, VIPoma) ?
Pancreatic tumors can be benign or malignant (cancerous). Neuroendocrine tumors are a type of pancreatic tumor that can produce hormones and cause symptoms related to hormone excess. Some specific types include:
Insulinoma: Produces excess insulin, leading to low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
Glucagonoma: Produces excess glucagon, leading to high blood sugar (hyperglycemia).
VIPoma: Produces vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), causing watery diarrhea and other symptoms.

What isPancreatic Cancer (Ductal Adenocarcinoma) ?
Pancreatic cancer, most commonly ductal adenocarcinoma, is an aggressive form of cancer that starts in the cells lining the pancreatic ducts. It’s often diagnosed at a late stage due to vague symptoms, leading to a poor prognosis.

What is Pancreatic Cysts (Serous cystadenoma, Mucinous Cystadenoma, Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm, Pseudopapillary Neoplasm) ?
Pancreatic cysts are fluid-filled sacs in the pancreas. Most are benign, but some can be precancerous or cancerous. Types include:
Serous cystadenoma: Most common, usually benign.
Mucinous cystadenoma: Can be benign or precancerous.
Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN): Can be benign, precancerous, or cancerous.
Pseudopapillary neoplasm: Usually benign, but can become cancerous.
